Nashuwa
Klezmer music
6.30 to 7.45 p.m., no break
Sometimes heartfelt, sometimes spirited and with a twinkle in her eye, Naschuwa lets the audience experience the versatility of Jewish music and Jewish humor. Virtuoso and balladic klezmer pieces, Yiddish songs from the world of the Eastern and Central European shtetl, but also from the ghetto, as well as musical excursions to the Orient and modern Israel awaken a longing for the Garden of Eden. The rousing performance of the four musicians as well as stories, anecdotes and background information on the songs enrich the program. Humor is a medicine that makes life easier and reflects its profound side. Naschuwa is part of a culture of remembrance that fights against forgetting and repression and at the same time reminds us that life goes on in all its diversity.
