In an interview, the director explained the film’s title: “The mustang is a wild horse — the perfect symbol for my five heroines and their unbridled, impetuous temperament. There are also visual parallels. Their hair resembles horse manes and when they chase through the village, it looks like a herd in turmoil. The story is always moving forward, as if at a gallop. This energy is what makes the movie for me, and the image of the mustang is perfect for that.”
At the Sarejevo Film Festival, the film was honored with the “Heart of Sarajevo” and all five leading actresses received the award for “Best Actress”.
